Am I Ready to Parent?    The Cost of Raising a Child    Parenting Classes

We Offer Free Parenting Classes through our H.O.P.E. Program - Helping Others Parent Effectively

"I don’t have anything for my baby!” This is a common statement that we hear from many expectant mothers. Please know that we want to provide you with an opportunity to receive practical assistance as you move through your pregnancy. We do this through our Hope Program.

We offer:
• A way for you to earn the items you need for your baby
• An opportunity for you to receive emotional support, spiritual nurturing and practical help.
• Resources to enable you to become a more effective parent.
• A self-affirming hand up (not a hand out).
• Referrals for other community services

How can I enroll?
Our parenting classes are held twice a year, in the fall and in the spring.  They occur one night per week for 8 weeks.  You may call the Center at 757-0003 to enroll.  Child care is provided. The classes are limited to 20 participants.  Partners or a support person are allowed to attend if space permits.

What topics will be covered?
• You are Special: How to take care of yourself while pregnant, and afterward.
• Physical Care of Your Baby: medicines, simple health problems, bathing, feeding, etc. Also, toddler issues
• Emotional Care: How to fill your child’s emotional tank, how to love unconditionally and much more
• Discipline: Am I a part of the problem? Needs which cause misbehavior, prevention vs punishment
• Parenting: Examining the different parenting styles, 6 qualities of healthy parenting, and more
• Child Development
• Safety, CPR and Child Care
• Spiritual Birth and Training

You must be willing to:
• Commit to attending all 8 classes
• Commit to doing your homework and being punctual

FOR BABY CLOTHES, MATERNITY CLOTHES AND SMALL ITEMS:  You may schedule an appointment during office hours to watch an educational video and talk with a peer counselor.
